Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 20 Mintues
Servings: 4
Cook Type: Stove
1 lb (450g) beef mince
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 packet (about 2 tablespoons) taco seasoning mix
1/2 cup water
Salt and pepper to taste
8 small taco shells or tortillas
Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro, sliced jalapenos, etc.
Step 1: In a large skillet or pan, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds. Add the beef mince and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 2: Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the beef mince and mix well.
Pour in the water and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. If the mixture becomes too dry, you can add a little more water.
Step 3: Taste the beef mixture and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper according to your preference. Remember that the taco seasoning mix already contains some salt.
Step 4: While the beef is simmering, warm the taco shells or tortillas according to the package instructions.
Step 5: Spoon the beef mince mixture into each taco shell.
Step 6: Top the beef with your choice of toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro, sliced jalapenos, etc.
Step 7: Arrange the assembled tacos on a serving platter and serve immediately.
Note: The recipe serves about 4 people, with 2 tacos per person.
Feel free to customize the toppings and serve the tacos with your favorite sides. Enjoy your delicious Beef Mince Tacos!
